Why should I choose F-Siding or F-Shingle over other siding materials?
The primary reason for choosing wood siding over other materials is its look. Though some man-made siding products try to replicate a wood grain, nothing compares to the natural beauty of real wood. Secondly, we use durable wood that offers natural insulation properties that surpass other siding materials. This, combined with our Cabot factory finish process, makes F-Siding or F-Shingle an excellent investment that will add value to your home or building for many years.

Why do you use cedar for your shingles?
Cedar is an extremely durable wood that offers natural insulation properties which surpass other siding materials such as brick, asphalt and PVC. It is also a dimensionally stable wood that lies flat and stays straight. These characteristics, combined with cedar’s excellent acoustic properties and natural preservatives that fight off the ravages of fungi, humidity and insects make F-Shingle cedar shingles the natural choice for any architectural or aesthetic design.

What kind of stain /paint do you use?
We use Cabot Factory Finish, which is 100% acrylic paint/stain that repels water, resists mildew and dirt pickup and remains incredibly washable.

How durable are F-Siding or F-Shingle compared to other materials?
We use durable wood that offers natural insulation properties which surpass other siding materials. Once factory-coated with our Cabot factory finish process, your
F-Siding or F-Shingle cedar shingles are guaranteed against cracking, peeling and blistering for a period of 15 years. Occasional maintenance of your siding or shingles ensures that the wood’s natural beauty will be preserved for many years to come.

How do I maintain my F-Siding wood siding or F-Shingle cedar shingles?
We recommend you do a light washing of your home or building once a year to maintain your F-Siding or F-Shingle products.

Should I stain my shingles or leave them unfinished?
This really depends on the look you are planning for your project. Cedar shingles age well, and are generally left unfinished, in their natural state. Over time, they take on a beautiful silver-gray color that is much appreciated and sought-after by connoisseurs. Interesting visual effects can be attained by applying different stains to accentuate architectural features. Cedar shingles can also be treated to maximize their life. At FSP a Brunswick Valley Company, we use a unique “Flow-Thru” process using Cabot Factory Finish, where all six sides of each shingle is coated for maximum protection from the elements.

nails or factory coated, color matched nails. Use hammer caps
to further protect the nail head.

Is strapping necessary, and if I do not strap will it void the warranty?
FSP a Brunswick Valley Company requires that you use kiln dried strapping 10 mm thick or greater for a horizontal siding application. For vertical applications, a 25 mm strapping is required.

How do I apply strapping?
