Questions About Our Gardens?

Everything you need to know about visiting Colclough Gardens and Tintern Abbey grounds

Our walled garden paths at Colclough are mostly flat and well-maintained, with gravel surfacing that's firm underfoot. We have several benches positioned throughout the gardens, so you can rest whenever you need. The Tintern Abbey grounds include some gentle slopes, and we always let you set the pace—there's no rushing on our tours.

Spring (April–May) and early autumn (September–October) are wonderful—the gardens are full of colour and the weather's mild. Summer visits are lovely too, though it can get warm on the paths. Winter's quieter and has its own charm if you don't mind cooler temperatures. We operate year-round, so whenever suits you works for us.

Our Garden Discovery Walks are typically 90 minutes, and Heritage History Tours at Tintern Abbey run about 2 hours. Both include natural rest stops and time to take photos or simply sit and enjoy the surroundings. We can adjust the length based on your group's preferences.

We always have water available during walks, and we can arrange tea or coffee with a light snack if you're booking a group visit. There's also a small café at the Colclough estate if you'd like something more substantial before or after your tour.

Absolutely! Many of our visitors bring a companion or book as a small group. We welcome friends, family members, or even formal group bookings for retirement communities and social clubs. Just let us know the size of your group when you get in touch.

We reschedule visits for poor weather—your safety and comfort come first. We can usually find another date within a week or two, or arrange a full refund if that doesn't work for you.
